Nottingham Forest have announced that striker Dexter Blackstock has been released after agreeing to the mutual termination of his contract at the City Ground.

The club released an official statement reading:

“Nottingham Forest and Dexter Blackstock have mutually agreed to a termination of the striker’s contract.

“The striker will leave the club with immediate effect and all at Nottingham Forest would like to wish Dexter the best of luck with his career.”

Blackstock’s departure is certainly no surprise considering his recent record.

The Antigua and Barbuda international has not played for Forest this season and scored just four goals in 32 appearances for the club last season.

He has struggled with niggling injuries ever since a horrific knee injury suffered against Cardiff City in November 2010.

The 30-year-old has been with Forest for seven years, after initially arriving on loan from QPR in 2009, making him one of the club’s longest-serving players and has scored 45 goals in 187 appearances for the club.

During his time with the club he has also been on loan with Leeds United.

The player will now be looking to find himself a new club with the transfer window closed he will be free to sign for a team outside the window.

Forest fans will no doubt have some fond memories of the player and will wish him well in his next adventure.
