Antonio Conte is likely to bring some Tottenham Hotspur players to the next level.

And hopefully for Harry Kane, he’s one of them.

One goal in nine Premier League games so far this season illustrates that the 28-year-old has been well below his best.

Part of the reason was Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactics, the sort of decisions that got him sacked after only four months in the job on Monday.

But another reason is because, well, Kane himself made it clear in the summer that he didn’t want to be a Spurs player anymore – and he’s been playing like it.

Everyone knows how good Kane can be when he’s enjoying his football – and crucially, Conte also knows.

Working as a pundit during Euro 2020, the Italian coach said about the Lilywhites hitman: “Many praise Harry Kane for his ability to go get the ball and play with the team, such as with the equaliser against Denmark.

“Of course, he’s good at that too, but it’s in the box where he’s clinical and as a coach, I would always keep him in there because he’s devastating.”

Exciting

This is exciting for Tottenham fans – particularly the second sentence.

Conte clearly knows how dangerous Kane is in the box, an area where he seemed to avoid under Nuno a lot more regularly than previous coaches.

But going by these comments, the former Chelsea boss seems to have a good idea on how to get the very best out of his new player.

And given the Kane we’ve seen so far this season, this can only be very, very good news.

He is devastating, as Conte said, and hopefully for the North Londoners, he’ll remind the whole Premier League of that.
