Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has praised midfielder Yves Bissouma having been dazzled by him in training.

Yves Bissouma is simply impossible to tackle in Tottenham Hotspur training.

That is the verdict of Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie, who has been speaking to The Athletic.

Tottenham have enjoyed a strong start to the Ange Postecoglou era, playing an attractive brand of football in the opening weeks of the season.

A number of players seem to be performing much better than they did under Antonio Conte, with Bissouma a perfect example.

Destiny Udogie hails Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma

Tottenham struck what appeared to be a huge deal in 2022, paying £25million rising to £35million for Bissouma.

The Mali star had excelled for Brighton and Hove Albion but Conte didn’t seem entirely convinced.

Postecoglou has quickly made him a key part of the Tottenham side with Bissouma thriving at the base of his midfield.

Bissouma appears to be loving life under Postecoglou and he has now received praise from left back Udogie.

The Italian has suggested that it’s just impossible to take the ball off Bissouma in training, hailing his confidence and dribbling ability.

Udogie also hailed Bissouma’s passing ability and claims that he impressed on the very first day of training – but he still manages to lose training games.

“You can’t take the ball off him,” Udogie says. “The confidence, the quality in driving the ball. The passes, he’s one of the top, top players. He impressed me from the first day. Though he always loses in training games. I don’t know why. Romero’s team always wins,” he added.

Tottenham will miss Bissouma this weekend

Sadly for Tottenham, Bissouma will be missing against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Bissouma picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers before the international break.

This really isn’t what Tottenham needed right now given that James Maddison, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are already out.

Bissouma missing out will totally change Tottenham’s midfield and Postecoglou is no doubt cursing that he is out at the same time as Maddison.

At least it’s only one game in Bissouma’s case, with Tottenham fans – and Postecoglou – surely looking forward to his return.
