Cristian Romero will miss Tottenham’s final game of the season with what Antonio Conte has described as a ‘traumatic injury’. However, he may be back sooner rather than later.
Indeed, the centre-back has just been called up for international duty by Argentina for their game against Italy in June 1st, 11 days from now.
It may just be wishful thinking from Argentina, but it seems as though Romero’s injury isn’t as bad as Conte’s comments would have implied – which is a boost for Tottenham.
Luckily for Spurs, in a game against Norwich City they probably won’t need Romero to be fit and firing to get a result. After all, the Canaries are the worst team in the Premier League.
However, the fact that Romero is deemed fit enough to be in the squad for the Italy game is good news as it means that his injury shouldn’t be one that affects him heading into pre-season.
Romero has been one of Spurs’ star players since the arrival of Antonio Conte, he’s a fantastic defender who has played a key role in Tottenham’s late charge into the top four.
Unfortunately, an injury has ended his season early, and while Tottenham may clinch top four on the final day of the season, make no mistake about it, Romero has been one of the biggest contributors to Spurs’ late-season success.
Tottenham supporters may want to keep an eye on how Romero gets on against Italy at the beginning of next month.
