Liverpool have been linked with an unlikely move for Christian Fuchs.

According to The Sun, Liverpool have turned their attention to Leicester City left back Christian Fuchs ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The Reds drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, but problems remain at left back after James Milner was caught out of position in the build-up to Danny Rose’s equalising goal.

Milner, a midfielder by trade, has been doing a job at left back as manager Jurgen Klopp appears to have lost some faith in natural left back Alberto Moreno, who endured a nightmare afternoon against Arsenal on the opening weekend of the season.
Intriguingly though, after the final whistle against Tottenham, Klopp told The Mirror that he didn’t intend to bring in another left back, given that he thought Milner played well in the position against Tottenham.
Whether that’s a bluff ahead of deadline day remains to be seen, but The Sun claim that if Klopp does move for a left back, Leicester City’s Christian Fuchs could be the man he targets.

Fuchs, 30, was a key member of Leicester’s Premier League title-winning side last season, notching four assists in 32 appearances in a superb campaign for the Austrian international.
However, the report claims that talks to extend his contract with Leicester have stalled, and Liverpool are on ‘red alert’ having been tracking him throughout the summer.
Liverpool may lack a veteran presence at the back, and Fuchs – a depedable defender as well as a threat going forward due to his superb crossing ability – would certainly make some sense, especially considering that former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp will be familiar with Fuchs from his days at Schalke.

Joel Matip – a former team-mate of Fuchs’ from Schalke – is already at Anfield, and that understanding could be appealing in the Liverpool defence, but it’s ultimately hard to see Liverpool move for a left back before the transfer deadline.
Klopp appears happy to keep playing Milner at left back, and whilst Fuchs may be a player that the Liverpool boss admires, a deal seems unlikely before Wednesday, though it could be a situation Liverpool revisit in January.
