The Frenchman has endured some difficult moments for Tottenham Hotspur.
Moussa Sissoko was heavily criticised during his first season at Tottenham Hotspur following his switch from Newcastle United, and, despite showing some signs of improvement this campaign, the Frenchman has yet to demonstrate that he can be a consistent performer.
Capable of playing as a central midfielder or out wide and possessing pace and power in abundance, at his best Sissoko is an exciting individual to watch as he can burst past opponents with ease.
The problem, however, is that these moments of brilliance occur all too rarely, with Sissoko’s decision making often leaving much to be desired.
If Tottenham are to start winning trophies on a regular basis then their squad needs to be comprised of dependable performers and Sissoko, despite the improvements that he has made this campaign, doesn’t fall into that category.
Sissoko was disappointing as Tottenham drew 1-1 away to Southampton last weekend and there have been many occasions when his overall impact on games has been negligible.
The 28-year-old can still have a part to play for Tottenham in the second half of the season but beyond that he really shouldn’t be considered as a genuine option for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
