The former Liverpool defender has become Gary Rowett’s second signing of the summer, and the second defender to arrive at the club.
Andre Wisdom
The news that Derby County have signed Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom for a fee that could rise to £4.5m, as reported by the Daily Mail, has gone down well amongst the Rams’ fanbase, and with good reason, too.
While the fee may be more than some fans would have hoped to pay for the 24-year-old, who returns to Derby after having a successful loan spell with the club in the 2013/14 season, Wisdom arguably goes into Pride Park as the club’s best defender.

Wisdom has just come back from a very successful loan spell with Red Bull Salzburg, whom he won the Austrian Bundesliga and the Austrian Cup with, and has progressed significantly as a player since that temporary spell with Derby ended several years ago.
The former England U21, who can operate either as a right back or a centre half, provides versatility, strength and speed to Gary Rowett’s backline, though what his arrival means for Cyrus Christie and Richard Keogh remains to be seen.
Andre Wisdom – England
The Telegraph had reported that Keogh and Christie had been made available for transfer, but if Wisdom is seen as a replacement for one of those two, then the club have upgraded their defensive options and you’d expect fans to be pleased.
With Derby seeking to end years of disappointment by just falling short when it matters most, signing players of Wisdom’s calibre can only be a positive thing for the Rams.
