However, while tomorrow night’s Champions League encounter against APOEL Nicosia represents a perfect opportunity to give Foyth game time with Tottenham already through to the Last 16 as group winners, manager Mauricio Pochettino should be wary of starting the youngster at home to Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday.
The challenge of facing an experienced forward in Peter Crouch, especially given the ex-Tottenham player’s prowess in the air, could be very difficult for Foyth to handle and would be a case of throwing the prospect in at the deep end.
Moving Eric Dier into centre-back would be the better option for Pochettino at present as, while Foyth certainly possesses much potential, he perhaps isn’t quite ready to face a player in Crouch’s mould.
