Welsh international defender Neil Taylor has insisted that his move from Swansea City to Aston Villa is a step up, despite dropping down a division.
The 28-year-old, who spent seven years in South Wales, joined Steve Bruce’s Villa in January as part of the £5 million deal that took Jordan Ayew to the Liberty Stadium.
Since then he has put in some good performances for Aston Villa and this week he insisted to BBC Wales that his move was a jump up:
“I feel like I have made the right decision moving here and I’m glad I’ve taken the jump.
“The club is a massive club but they have made me really welcome.
“There’s been quite a few new lads who have come in at the same time which has made it a little bit easier for me and I’ve settled in really well.”
Whilst Villa may be in the division below Swansea, at least for now that is, the club remains a massive one.

Regulars in the top-flight of English football and previous European Cup winners, there is no wonder Taylor considers Villa such a jump up.
Now he has to continue proving himself at such a big team.
Playing for Aston Villa is no easy feat and it brings with it huge amounts of pressure for the Aston Villa newbie.
He will hope he does not find his jump too much too handle in the Midlands.
