One of the main issues has been the lack of a top striker. West Ham failed in their bids for several attackers in the summer and those that did arrive, such as Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri have flopped spectacularly.

It was recently reported by Bild that Leverkusen were prepared to sell the Mexican for £21 million, although the player has denied a desire to leave the club, as reported on Bundesliga.com.
But whilst the noise is he wants to stay, a player of Hernandez’s quality does not become available often and West Ham must consider the idea of tempting Leverkusen into a sale.

The former Manchester United striker suits the Premier League perfectly and would be exactly what West Ham are missing at present – a goal-scoring centre-forward who runs in behind opposing defences.
It may seem a long shot, but given West Ham’s current struggles up top, they must consider all and any options.
