The West Ham star was at it again on Saturday afternoon…
West Ham United may have dropped yet more points at home against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon but, if there was one positive to single out, it was – as always – Dimitri Payet.
Indeed, the Frenchman, statistically speaking at least, was superb at the Boleyn Ground.
And he matched a Premier League record for the season in terms of creativity against Alex Neil’s men.
| Match | Chances Created | Minutes Played | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dimitri Payet | West Ham vs Norwich | 8 | 90 |
| Mesut Özil | Arsenal vs Stoke | 8 | 84 |
| Santiago Cazorla | Arsenal vs Stoke | 7 | 90 |
| Dimitri Payet | West Ham vs Newcastle | 7 | 90 |
As Opta stats show, the 28-year-old created no less than eight chances against the Canaries – the same amount as Mesut Ozil did for Arsenal against Stoke City, with Santi Cazorla just behind on seven.
Payet himself created seven against Newcastle United but went one better v Norwich.
Equally as impressively, meanwhile, the West Ham playmaker is now joint-top in terms of chances created all Premier League season…
| Chances Created | Minutes Played | |
|---|---|---|
| Santiago Cazorla | 27 | 619 |
| Dimitri Payet | 27 | 628 |
| Mesut Özil | 27 | 512 |
| Eden Hazard | 26 | 630 |
Payet shares the accolade with two Arsenal stars and has made one more key pass than Eden Hazard.
The Frenchman’s honeymoon period in the Premier League continues, then. As soon as West Ham can stop conceding at home, they’ll be able to capitalise on it more at Upton Park.
