Arsenal fans on Twitter just cannot believe what Mikel Arteta has said in his press conference leading into their League Cup tie against Manchester City tonight.
The under-fire Arsenal boss, whose side are sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table, started quoting stats about his side’s recent form and how they had a ‘3%’ chance of losing to Burnley – yet they lost. And also had a 7% chance of losing to Spurs – and lost, as quoted by the Guardian.
It’s comments and statistics that have left the Arsenal faithful puzzled and annoyed because the real stat that matters is that the club is languishing in 15th place with no light at the end of the tunnel.
Given that Arsenal are struggling heavily this season, it doesn’t help the cause when the manager comes out and starts talking in such a way that confuses the fans even more because it just makes matters worse for him.
It seems as though that is the case here with Arteta.
There have even been times after defeats were Arteta has felt that his team have performed well even though fans have thought otherwise.
Given Arsenal’s situation, it’s more than likely that more fans want Arteta sacked than those who want to back him.
Either way, his recent comments have sparked an interesting reaction from the Arsenal supporters:
