David Provan has warned Steven Gerrard’s Rangers that Celtic will be determined to reclaim the title next season, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.
Rangers have already won the Scottish Premiership title this season, ending hopes of their bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic making it 10 in a row.
The Gers have deservedly clinched the championship this campaign and are still unbeaten in the league.
Celtic legend Provan, who now works as a pundit, has warned Rangers that the Hoops will be back next season, adding that the club’s largest individual shareholder Dermot Desmond does not like coming second.
Former Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has also made similar comments to Sky Sports, saying that Celtic will be determined to win back the title next season.
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Former Liverpool team-mates are convinced Glasgow’s balance of power has shifted. Under Gerrard, they see a sustained period of Rangers dominance.
“On the evidence of this season, they could be right but I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.Despite the pandemic, Celtic still have the financial muscle to come good.
“With next season’s champions almost certain to go straight into the Champions League group stage, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
“Right now, Rangers are in the box seat, renewing contracts and adding to the squad. European success has helped prop up the balance sheet.
“But I wouldn’t be writing off Celtic for next season. Desmond doesn’t take kindly to second place.”

Rangers can rejoice
It is still only March, and Rangers must be given credit for the way they have aiready won the title.
True, Celtic have had a very bad campaign with Neil Lennon leaving in February, but the fact that Rangers are still unbeaten shows that it is not just about the Hoops struggling. It is more about the Gers doing well and consistently getting results.
