Sheffield Wednesday’s Atdhe Nuhiu has scored five goals in his last three outings.
Sheffield Wednesday supporters have taken to social networking site Twitter in order to show their appreciation for striker Atdhe Nuhiu as the striker netted again in the 3-1 win over Sunderland.
The Kosovo international has been in excellent form of late, scoring five goals in his past three games including a brace in the 4-1 win over Preston North End and another strike at the Stadium of Light on Easter Monday.
Atdhe has plenty of competition at Hillsborough, what with Steven Fletcher, Lucas Joao, Fernando Forestieri, Jordan Rhodes and Gary Hooper all vying for a starting place upfront.
With his contract running out at the end of the current campaign, many have felt that his time with the Owls is drawing to a close as boss Jos Luhukay will look to make changes to his squad this summer.
But considering his recent form, the 28-year-old may be on the verge of earning himself a new deal and fans are seemingly behind the idea of Atdhe staying on as they show their support on Twitter.
The 6ft 6inch striker may not be the most technical player in the Championship, yet his height, strength and imposing figure means he will always be a nuisance for defenders and a valuable option to have.
Whether it’s coming off the bench in search of a late winner, or a figure upfront to hold on to the ball when defending a lead, Nuhiu has certain attributes which aren’t exactly easy to find.
Wednesday, despite a slow start under Luhukay, are beginning to find some form at last and the signs are there for the Yorkshire club to enjoy a decent end to an otherwise quite forgettable campaign.
Next season the Owls will fancy themselves to push for the playoffs again, and it would be a just reward for his efforts of late that the popular Nuhiu is a part Luhukay’s rebuild and subsequent first full season in charge.
