Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Aymeric Laporte will keep his place in the starting XI for Manchester City’s Saturday clash against Arsenal.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the Catalan manager revealed that the Spanish defender will retain his spot when the north London side travel up north on the weekend.

Laporte was a star performer for City on Saturday with the centre-back keeping a clean sheet and scoring in a 5-0 win against Norwich City.

The 27-year-old is allowed to leave the club as reported by the Daily Mail. However, Guardiola has been impressed by Laporte in City’s first win of the Premier League season.

The City boss said: “I try to rotate the team but at the same time I try to decide. For example now Aymeric Laporte, the game he played today, he’s going to play the next game.

“The guys who played good today are going to play the next game. It is what it is.”
