Glasgow Rangers recently terminated the contract of Joey Barton.
Des McKeown has suggested in The Scottish Sun that questions should be asked of those at Rangers who sanctioned the deal to sign Joey Barton in the summer transfer window.
Former Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Barton joined Rangers in the summer after leaving Burnley at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
As reported by BBC Sport at the time, the English midfielder signed a two-year contract with the Gers.
Rangers and Barton recently decided to terminate the contract, meaning that the 34-year-old is now a free agent.
Former Celtic youth team player McKeown, who played for Albion Rovers and Queen of the South, has suggested that questions should be asked of those who decided to sign Barton.

“Barton has proved to be all talk and no substance,” McKeown wrote in The Scottish Sun. “So who chased his signature and sanctioned his huge contract demands?
“If I were holding the keys to Ibrox I’d be demanding answers from the relevant party. In many other businesses that decision could make the person’s employment almost untenable.
“It wouldn’t be the first time a company removed an employee based on poor decision-making and cost to the coffers.”

Rangers are playing in the Scottish Premiership this season after gaining automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Mark Warburton’s side are third in the league table at the moment with 20 points from 12 matches.
The Gers are 11 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have a game in hand.
