Derrick Lewis and Waldo Cortes-Acosta had to be pulled apart by security – with Dana White getting involved – after their final face-off turned physical.
The heavyweight pair are set to meet on Saturday night at UFC 324, and there is a bit of heat behind this one after an alleged comment from Lewis that apparently made things personal.
Things came to a head during their face-off at the T-Mobile Arena, where security had to step in as both fighters started pushing each other.
Derrick Lewis and Waldo Cortes-Acosta separated by Dana White after weigh-in scuffle

During the UFC 324 weigh-ins at T-Mobile Arena, Michael Bisping brought up a comment allegedly made by Derrick Lewis that hit a nerve with Waldo Cortes-Acosta. The comment, reportedly about Acosta’s mother, is believed to have escalated their rivalry beyond just the usual pre-fight hype.
Although Lewis is known for his sense of humour, he’s not shy about standing his ground when it comes to opponents, and Friday night was no different.
Bisping explained: “He believes he’s going to knock out Derrick Lewis, knock out the knockout king and then of course get a heavyweight title shot.
“Look at this, two gigantic men and Waldo says it’s personal. Apparently Derrick said something about his mother, I don’t know, but he’s fired up.”
Security and White were then required to intervene to pull apart the two fighters, who had collectively weighed in at 525.5lb on Friday morning.
