Celtic are seeking a new manager following Neil Lennon’s exit in February, and a very interesting name has been touted this week.

A host of candidates have been touted, but the Daily Mail now claim that Lucien Favre is interested in taking the reins at Parkhead.

It’s suggested that Favre is looking for a route back into football having been sacked by Borussia Dortmund in December, and he’s eyeing up Celtic as a potential destination.

The 63-year-old has worked wonders at the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach and Nice in the past, but couldn’t quite bring the title to Dortmund.

The likes of Christian Pulisic, Giovanni Reyna, Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho all enjoyed development under Favre at Dortmund, whilst the likes Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Marco Reus, Granit Xhaka, Yann Sommer, Thorgan Hazard, Mahmoud Dahoud, Ricardo Pereira, Malang Sarr, Jean Michael Seri, Alassane Plea and Allan Saint-Maximin all progressed under Favre.

That kind of record should be appealing to Celtic, and Derek Rae – the Scotsman who is the Bundesliga’s lead commentator at ESPN – has offered his view on the rumours.

Rae believes that Favre is much more realistic for Celtic than the likes of Jesse Marsch or Gerardo Seoane, whilst claiming some at Dortmund raved about his training sessions.

Rae did though add that Favre maybe didn’t have the personality to match Dortmund’s energy – which could be an issue at Celtic – and believes his football is maybe overworked at times.
