Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic will face challenge from Aberdeen, says Derek McInnes
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title last season, while their bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers finished second.
Aberdeen had a disappointing campaign by their own standards and judging by recent seasons during the 2018-19 campaign, as the Dons ended up fourth in the standings.
Manager McInnes, who played for Rangers from 1995 until 2000, believes that his side will challenge Celtic and Rangers for the Scottish Premiership title race next season.
McInnes told The Daily Record: “I’ve lots more to do here. I can still get a team on the pitch that can challenge.
“It’s a big year for Celtic and Rangers and, if there’s pressure on those sides to spend, they can sometimes leave the others behind.
“But they can only play 11 and, on any given day, we can be competitive with any team. My aim is still winning cups, qualifying for Europe and being competitive in the league.”

Title race
Aberdeen have a good team, and they will become stronger with a few good signings in the summer transfer window, but Rangers and Celtic remain the strongest teams in Scotland.
Celtic will be firm favourites to clinch the Scottish Premiership title next season, while Rangers will be expected to give Lennon’s side a run for their money.
