Celtic are still at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, but Brendan Rodgers’s side are facing a stiff challenge from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers this season.
Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 42 points from 21 matches.
Celtic have also picked up 42 points so far this campaign, but the Glasgow giants have played 20 games and are at the top.
Kilmarnock are third in the standings with 41 points from 21 matches, while Aberdeen are two points behind them in fourth.
With Celtic, Rangers, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen within just three points of each other, there does seem to be a title race on in Scotland, but Derek McInnes does not think so.
The Aberdeen manager, who was on the books of Rangers as a player from 1995 until 2000, believes that Celtic will go on to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.
McInnes told The Scottish Sun: “I don’t think there is a title race. I’m not sure anyone can say that, even if we would all want that.
“After 21 games it shows there is a real credibility at the moment, but it falls short of a real title race.
“If we get to March and April and there’s still congestion at the top, then you could say with certainty that there is a title race on then.”
“I think Celtic are the most likely to stretch away, but every team is finding it difficult to get away and get those winning runs going,” added McInnes.
Title challenge
Celtic have the best team in Scotland, and the Glasgow giants remain the favourite for the league title.
However, with Rangers giving the Hoops a run for their money, the next few months are going to be very interesting indeed.
