Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Kenny McLean to Ibrox this summer.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has told The Scottish Herald that he isn’t concerned by rumours linking midfielder Kenny McLean with a move to Rangers.

McLean, 25, started his career in the youth ranks with boyhood club Rangers, but made his name with St Mirren, notching 24 goals in 152 games for the club.

The midfielder’s superb displays for St Mirren earned him a February 2015 move to Aberdeen, where he has again kicked on and impressed.

McLean has not only notched 14 goals in 105 games for the Dons, but has also earned his first Scotland cap during his time at Pittodrie, featuring against the Czech Republic in March 2016.

McLean’s performances appear to be attracting interest though, as The Scottish Sun reported earlier today that Rangers are looking to sign McLean this summer as new manager Pedro Caixinha looks to mould his squad, with a seven-figure fee required to tempt Aberdeen into a sale.

With Joey Barton gone, Jordan Rossiter and Niko Kranjcar both injured and Jon Toral (Arsenal) and Emerson Hyndman (Bournemouth) only on loan, a dependable midfielder is needed at Ibrox.

McLean could fit the bill having not only started in the Rangers ranks but also grown up supporting the club, giving him an instant affinity with the Ibrox fan base.

Aberdeen won’t be keen to sell a key player to a main rival though, and manager Derek McInnes has told The Scottish Herald that he isn’t too concerned by the rumours, as the Dons will decide what to do with McLean this summer.

“It’s the world we live in, there is always rumour and gossip and speculation so it doesn’t faze us one way or the other,” said McInnes. “I’ve never been one for commenting about speculation. I’ve got a lot of good players here and I’m sure Kenny McLean is on a lot of club’s lists, but he’s our player thankfully and we will decide what we do with that,” he added.
