Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos endured a mixed evening as the Ibrox side picked up an important win.

Derek McInnes has told Sky Sports’ live post match coverage of Rangers’ clash with Aberdeen (broadcast on 6/2 from 22:00) that he hopes that Alfredo Morelos’ latest red card will not be rescinded, but insisted that the striker is the star of the Gers’ side.
Morelos had another bizarre night. The Colombian had been sent off in the Light Blues’ previous two league meetings with the Dons – though the first was downgraded.
But it appeared that he was going to take the headlines for the right reasons on Wednesday as he scored Rangers’ first two goals at Pittodrie, with his second in particular showing Morelos display all of his quality as he stroked the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
However, the night was to end in all too familiar fashion for the striker as he was sent off during the second-half after a clash with Scott McKenna. Neither player seemed to make a lot of contact with the opponent, but the 22-year-old did seem to look to stamp on McKenna.

Rangers would go on to secure the 4-2 win. And after the full-time whistle, McInnes commented on the good and bad side of Morelos’ game.
“Morelos is a fantastic player. But I’m even disappointed with the free-kick that led to the cross that led to the penalty. I think he goes down too easily there and the referee gives a free-kick,” he told Sky Sports.
“But he’s an absolute nuisance for defenders. Once again, he’s been sent off. Hopefully the authorities don’t rescind that one. It’s a red card. He causes problems. When he went off, I thought we were by far the better team. He’s certainly the star of that team.”

A Morelos suspension was a lot more costly during the first-half of the season than it looks set to be now. Rangers signed Jermain Defoe in the January window, and he has made an excellent start already with three league goals, including the fourth against Aberdeen.
Gerrard’s men have the resources up front. But with Morelos in such fine form in front of goal, it would be no surprise if Gerrard was a little frustrated with his forward’s actions.
