Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has been quoted as saying by The Scottish Sun that Ryan Jack will not leave for Rangers in the summer transfer window.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Jack from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen in the summer.

It has been reported that new Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is keen on adding the 25-year-old defensive midfielder to his squad for the 2017-18 campaign.

The former Scotland Under-21 international’s current contract with Aberdeen runs out at the end of the season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Aberdeen manager McInnes, though, has claimed that Jack has not been contacted by Rangers, and that the midfielder is not eyeing a move to Ibrox.

“He gave me assurances that there has been no contact and he doesn’t anticipate contact,” The Scottish Sun quotes McInnes as saying regarding his discussion with Jack about his future. “It is not something he is interested in. Ryan is happy here and he hasn’t ruled out staying here.”

McInnes seems to quite confident about Jack’s future, and his comments do come as a blow to Rangers’ chances of signing the midfielder.

Jack is a very good defensive midfielder, and he would be a brilliant signing for Rangers, especially as he would be a free transfer.

Rangers should not give up just yet. If Caixinha is indeed keen on the 25-year-old, then the Gers should make an offer in the summer.
