Graeme Murty will be in charge of Glasgow Rangers until the end of the season, but will the Gers boss remain the Ibrox manager next summer?

Derek Johnstone has predicted in The Glasgow Evening Times that Rangers manager Graeme Murty will be wanted by other clubs in the summer of 2018.

Murty will be in charge of Scottish Premiership club Rangers until the end of the season.

The 43-year-old is doing a good job at the Gers at the moment, although recent results, especially the defeat to Celtic at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby, have raised doubts on whether he can be good for the club in the long run.

Rangers legend Johnstone, who played for the Glasgow giants in the 1970s and the 1980s and managed Partick Thistle in 1986-87, believes that Murty will be wanted by other clubs if he is not retain in his current role at Rangers beyond the summer of 2018.

Johnstone wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times about Murty: “Even if Rangers decide he is not the man for them, I am sure he will be wanted by a club elsewhere in the game.”

Keep faith in Graeme Murty

Rangers are out of the running for the Scottish Premiership title this season, but the Gers can finish second and have already reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Murty has done well, and perhaps the Rangers chiefs should give him one full season to show what he can do with his own team.
