Ibrox favourite Morelos was the subject of bids from China in January, but Rangers said no.

Rangers legend Derek Johnstone has claimed in his Glasgow Evening Times column that he would have sold striker Alfredo Morelos if he was in charge.
The 21-year-old was the subject of an £8million offer from Chinese Super League Beijing Renhe according to Sky Sports, but the Gers decided to reject the bid tabled for the Colombian striker to the surprise of many.
Colombian Morelos has been in excellent form this season, finding the back of the net 13 times in 27 league and cup encounters in a rare example of how Pedro Caixinha’s signings have improved the Gers side.

Johnstone, who played for Rangers for 13 years between 1970 and 1983 before returning in 1985, believes £8million is a lot of money for the Light Blues – but the decision to reject the offer shows the trust placed in Graeme Murty.
“If I had been making the decision on whether to keep or sell Alfredo Morelos this week, he would have been gone,” Johnstone said. “That is not because I want to see him leave or because I don’t think he is a good player.
“That [board letting Murty reject offer] shows how the board feel about the manager and it is a sign of intent from Rangers that they want their best players. They clearly feel keeping Morelos is the best way forward.
“But £8million is a lot of money for Rangers.”

Morelos is currently considered the Gers first-choice striker despite the club boasting the likes of Mexico international Eduardo Herrera and January loan signing Jason Cummings.
Signed from HJK Helsinki in the summer, Morelos’ departure would have brought in a huge profit but instead the club have rejected an offer. It remains to be seen if the striker will remain until the start of next season, with his Ibrox contract running until the summer of 2020.
