Glasgow Rangers defender Bruno Alves will stay at Ibrox next season, predicts Derek Johnstone.

Alves has been linked with a move away from Rangers this summer, with The Scotsman claiming last month that the Portugal international central defender is expected to leave.
Love Island World Cup: If EVERY contestant were an England player
Rangers legend Johnstone, who won the league title thrice and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup once with the Ibrox club, has predicted that the 36-year-old centre-back will be part of Steven Gerrard’s team for the 2018-19 campaign.

Johnstone wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times: “Bruno Alves is a player who has been accused of lacking commitment; however, I am not convinced that we have seen the last of the Portuguese.
“I fancy Gerrard will play with a three-man defence and that is why I feel the veteran defender might be kept on.”

Bruno Alves stay at Rangers
Alves did not have a great season on a personal level for Rangers during the 2017-18 campaign.
However, there is no doubt that the Euro 2016 winner is a very good defender, and although he is past his time, he can still do a good job under new Rangers manager Gerrard.
Rangers will be aiming to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season, and keeping Alves will enable the Gers to do just that.
