Rangers legend Derek Johnstone has praised Celtic winger James Forrest in The Glasgow Evening Times.
Johnstone, who was played for Rangers back in the 1970s and the 1980s and won the first division title, the Scottish League Cup, the Scottish Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup with the Ibrox club, has been impressed with the performances of Forrest this season.
The 65-year-old was impressed with the display produced by the 27-year-old winger for Scotland against Israel in the UEFA Nations League during the recent international break, and believes that he is now different from what he was two years ago.
Johnstone wrote about Forrest in The Glasgow Evening Times: “James Forrest rightly got all the plaudits after his goals against Albania and Israel and he is a player that is in superb form right now.
“He seems a different player to what he was a couple of years ago and he is making a name for himself for club and country this season.”
Brendan Rodgers’s impact
Forrest was struggling to play well and play regularly when Brendan Rodgers was appointed as the Celtic manager in the summer of 2016.
Rodgers has transformed the winger and has made him a much better player, as the Scotland international continues to play well.
According to Transfermarkt.com, Forrest has scored six goals and provided five assists in 12 Scottish Premiership appearances for Celtic so far this season.
