Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joey Barton should have a quiet word with himself, suggests former Ibrox star Derek Johnstone.

Former Rangers star Derek Johnstone has written in The Glasgow Evening Times that Joey Barton needs to have a quiet word with himself.
The 62-year-old former Scotland international has suggested that Rangers midfielder Barton should do his talking on the pitch instead of speaking a lot before the upcoming match against Celtic.
Rangers will take on Old Firm rivals Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership this coming weekend.
Former Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Barton will be a key player in the match.
Johnstone has suggested that the 34-year-old Englishman will be a marked man in the match.

“He’s a good player, and could be a stand-out up here, but he is in no way in a different stratosphere to the players already playing the Scottish Premiership, particularly at this stage in his career,” Johnstone wrote about Barton in The Glasgow Evening Times.
“That’s why he might want to have a quiet word with himself about the sort of stuff that he’s been writing online, because people are reading that and he’s become a target.
“He’s a marked man, that’s for sure, and it hasn’t made his settling-in period to Scottish football any easier on him.”

Barton is a very good midfielder and has been playing well for Rangers this season following his arrival at Ibrox in the summer transfer window.
The former Manchester City and Burnley man has made some interesting comments about Celtic duo Scott Brown and Brendan Rodgers.
Back in June, the Rangers star claimed on talkSPORT that Celtic midfielder Brown is not in his league.
Last month, Barton jokingly said on talkSPORT that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is having a mid-life crisis.
