Glasgow Rangers will be without the veteran for the clash at Ibrox this weekend.

Derek Johnstone has suggested that Clint Hill’s absence for Rangers’ clash against Hearts will be a big loss for Mark Warburton’s side, the Evening Times reports.

The 38-year-old was sent off after picking up a second yellow card during the dying minutes of the Gers’ most recent game, against Aberdeen, and thus, will be suspended for Saturday’s fixture.

And Johnstone has explained just how much of a blow it will be that Warburton will not be able to select the veteran for the upcoming game.

“He will be a real loss for Rangers,” he told the Evening Times.

“Not many fans would have said at the start of the season but he has done well recently and he has shown that he is a leader at the back.

“That is something that has been missing for Rangers. Clint’s experience is invaluable at the back and he and Rob Kiernan have become the first choice pairing now it seems.”

With the Light Blues suffering defeat in their previous contest against Hearts, Warburton would have certainly been looking to his experienced players to help them get revenge on the Tynecastle club.

And Hill would have surely been one of those players, given the form he has enjoyed since his summer switch to Ibrox.

The former Queens Park Rangers man has been involved in eight of the 11 clean sheets that the side have kept in all competitions this season.

And it seems possible that had he not been dismissed at the weekend, he would have made it nine as the Dons’ late reply only came after his red card.
