Derek Ferguson said on Open Goal that Liverpool winger Ryan Kent would be a statement signing for Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers.

Kent spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Rangers from Premier League club Liverpool.

The 22-year-old winger played well for the Gers last season, and, according to The Scottish Sun, Rangers want to secure the services of the youngster on another loan deal.

Liverpool want to sell the former England Under-20 international winger on a permanent basis and want £7 million as transfer fee, according to the report.

Former Rangers midfielder Ferguson believes that signing Kent would be a major signing for the Gers.

Ferguson said about Kent to Rangers on Open Goal: “That would be a real statement because the thing about Kent, we know the quality that he has got, but what I liked about him last season when it came to the big games, he turned up.”

Good signing for Rangers?

Kent is a very good winger, and there is no doubt that the youngster would enhance the quality of the Rangers attacking unit.

However, the Gers do have enough good wingers. Jake Hastie, Jordan Jones and Sheyi Ojo all have been signed by Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

What Rangers need right now is a quality left-back, not another winger.
