Rangers capitalised on Celtic’s defeat to Livingston on Sunday by beating Hamilton hours later at Ibrox.
Derek Ferguson has dismissed George Edmundson’s comments that he wasn’t aware that Celtic had dropped points prior to Rangers thumping Hamilton, as quoted by The Daily Record.
It was a drama-filled Sunday in the Scottish Premiership, with 10-man Celtic losing at Livingston and Rangers putting five past Hamilton hours later.
Those two results meant that Steven Gerrard’s side now occupy top spot in the Premiership table, as they hold a two-point lead over their rivals.
Nonetheless, Speaking to Sportsound on BBC Radio Scotland (07/10/2019), Ferguson wasn’t buying or having any of what Edmundson was saying in regards to not knowing about Celtic’s defeat.
On whether he buys Edmundson’s comments: “No, absolutely not,” Ferguson told Sportsound. “That’s what gets you fired up. Of course, they knew that result!
“Gary McAllister would have been in that dressing room firing those boys up, I am sure of that.”
Even if Edmundson did know about Celtic’s result at Livingston, he still wouldn’t have admitted it to the media.
It’s best leaving all of that within the four walls of the dressing room, dismissing what is happening with your rival and letting your football do the talking.
Rangers did just that as Jermain Defoe was the hero of the day because he struck a brilliant hat-trick for his team as the international break now kicks in.
