Leeds United reportedly want to sign Derby County forward Matej Vydra in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United want to sign Matej Vydra from Championship rivals Derby County, who will want at least £10 million for the forward, according to The Daily Mail – and the Whites should pay it.

The West Yorkshire need a proven goalscorer to spearhead their challenge for the Championship playoffs next season.

Chris Wood’s departure to Burnley in the summer of 2017 left a hole in the Whites’ team that they failed to fill last season, but they now have a great chance to rectify that with Vydra.

The 26-year-old forward has been a success in the Championship, and stats prove that.

During the 2017-18 campaign, the Czech Republic international scored 21 goals and provided four assists in 35 Championship starts for Derby.

True, Vydra could not make a massive impact for Derby during the 2016-17 season, but back in 2014-15, he scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 31 Championship starts for Watford.

Proven goalscorers do not come cheap, and if Leeds are serious about a challenge for playoffs next season, then they should pay the £10m that Derby reportedly want – they will not regret it.
