Derby County midfielder Will Hughes has said that he can see improvements in the team following the club’s poor start to the season.
Derby’s Will Hughes
Derby County’s turbulent start to the 2016/17 campaign has been met with surprise from fans and pundits alike, with many expecting them to challenge for promotion once again. The suspension of Nigel Pearson saw the season take yet another early turn, with assistant manager Chris Powell taking the reigns. As reported by Derby Telegraph, midfielder Will Hughes has commented on how the club are progressing.
Hughes has been at the iPro Stadium for over five years now, having been tipped for stardom from an early age. He featured in the Rams’ 1-1 draw with Reading at the weekend and commented on how the side fared.
“It’s always frustrating when you concede an equaliser in the last five minutes, regardless of how you’re playing,” said the midfielder.

“But, again, I can see improvements in the performance.
“But the way the game went, conceding late on, it’s frustrating.
“Having said that, a point is a point at the end of the day and we’ve got four points from two away games.”

Under Pearson the East Midlands side struggled immensely, and even after the last few games they still only have two league victories to their name.
The slow improvements being made under Chris Powell are vital if Derby are still intent on making a surge for the play-offs later in the season. Their next challenge comes when they host in-form Leeds United after the international break.
