The Derby County boss was last linked with the Stoke City job in January.

Derby manager Gary Rowett looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Bristol City at the iPro Stadium on January 19, 2018 in Derby, England.

Gary Rowett, the Derby County manager, has been cut from 7/1 to 5/2 overnight to succeed Paul Lambert at Stoke City (Sky Bet).

However, the 44-year-old is only second favourite for the Potters’ vacancy, behind David Moyes (4/5).

Rowett led Derby to the Championship play-offs in his first full season in charge at Pride Park, but saw his side’s promotion hopes ended by Fulham at the start of this week.

And a move to Stoke, who were linked with Rowett prior to Lambert’s appointment in January, could appeal to the former Birmingham City and Burton Albion boss, whose budget is expected to be cut next season.

Despite dropping into the Championship under Lambert, Stoke should have no such concerns as they await their first parachute payment.

Quique Sanchez Flores, the former Watford manager, and Sam Allardyce, who was sacked by Everton this week, are 9/2 and 9/1 respectively with Sky Bet.

Could Rowett leave Derby for Stoke this summer?
