Derby County reportedly wanted Rotherham United midfielder Will Vaulks but he will join Championship rivals Cardiff City instead.

Cardiff City are set to seal the £1.5 million signing of Rotherham United midfielder Will Vaulks in the next 24 hours, according to The Mail.
The 25-year-old has been admirably loyal to The Millers over the last three years, staying in Yorkshire despite being relentlessly linked with a move elsewhere. But it seems that he is now ready to walk away after Rotherham were relegated back to League One in May.
And despite claims from TEAMtalk that Norwich City and Derby County were interested, Vaulks is instead expected to join Cardiff.
The former Falkirk midfielder has agreed personal terms and is set to be unveiled in South Wales within the next 24 hours. To make the deal even more impressive, Cardiff will pay a bargain £1.5 million for one of the most underrated enforcers in the Championship.
And news of Vaulks’ impending move should come as a disappointment to a Derby side who are at risk of losing a number of central midfielders this summer.

Craig Bryson is out of contract and Mason Mount will return to Chelsea, while Jacob Butterfield is set to be let go too.
And Vaulks would have added some much-needed energy and tenacity alongside the more languid Tom Huddlestone while his ability to shoot with power from range could have taken the pressure of The Rams’ rather erratic strikers.
