Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Derby County 2-0 in the Championship last night.
Derby boss Gary Rowett spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 2-0 defeat to Wolves last night, and raved about the quality of Ruben Neves, suggesting that the Portuguese is a ‘Champions League player’, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The 21-year-old scored an absolute wonder strike, volleying the ball into the top corner from 35 yards out.
The Black Country outfit were too good for the Rams last night, and are now just one win away from guaranteeing promotion back to the Premier League.
Rowett’s men, meanwhile, sit in fifth spot in the Championship table, just two points clear of seventh placed Middlesbrough, although they do have a game in hand on Tony Pulis’ side.
The Derby boss spoke to reporters after his side’s defeat to Wolves, and offered high words of praise for Neves, after that Portugal international scored an absolute world class goal, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“It’s the first time as an opposition manager I’ve almost applauded an opposition goal. For me he’s a Champion League player.”
Neves joined Wolves from Porto in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £15.8 million, and he has since gone on to establish himself as Nuno’s most important player.
The Black Country outfit will surely have their work cut-out if they want to keep hold of him in the summer, but for now, Wolves fans should just enjoy the Portuguese’s unbelievable quality while they can.
