The rumours surrounding Derby County boss Frank Lampard and a potential return to Chelsea as manager have resurfaced but some Blues fans do not seem keen on their legendary ex-midfielder to take the reins.
Maurizio Sarri’s job at Stamford Bridge remains very much under scrutiny following a hit-and-miss season so far in which their last game before the international break was a 2-0 defeat at Everton in the Premier League.
According to The Sun, Lampard is one of two names on Chelsea’s shortlist – revised following Zinedine Zidane’s return to Real Madrid – as a potential replacement for Sarri, with Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo also reportedly considered.
The report – which comes several weeks after one by Sky Sports – claimed that the 40-year-old Rams boss “would be the fans’ choice, especially if he came with another ex-Bridge star Jody Morris”, but despite his popularity at the club as a player, not everyone seems as eager for him to come on board now.

According to Transfermarkt, Lampard made 640 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 209 goals and registering 150 assists, while as Derby manager he has taken charge of 45 matches, winning 20, drawing 12 and losing 13.
