The Rams academy graduate and Derby born-and-bred forward was lacklustre for his side as the Reds scored three unanswered goals at the City Ground.

A number of Derby County fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Mason Bennett’s performance in the Rams’ humbling 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Phillip Cocu named an inexperienced side for the big East Midlands derby and it proved too much for them at the City Ground as the Reds rattled in three unanswered goals through Albert Adomah, Joe Lolley and Joao Carvalho.
While most of the Rams players found themselves under criticism by sections of the fanbase after the poor showing across the A52, Bennett’s lacklustre display saw him earn a fair bit of flak as some supporters made their feelings clear about him.
While Bennett is generally liked amongst the Pride Park faithful for being a local lad who has come through the ranks and is now playing for his boyhood club and doing so with passion, the team’s display at the City Ground made some question whether he is up to the job:
Derby return to action on Saturday when they travel to Brentford in the Championship.
