The Rams striker – who didn’t start in the Championship playoff final – scored a brace in Florida.

A number of Derby County fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jack Marriott’s impressive display for the Rams in their pre-season friendly win over Sarasota Metropolis.
The 24-year-old striker scored a brace as Phillip Cocu’s charges ran out 2-0 winners over the USL side in Florida, the Dutch manager fielding a different team in each half at the IMG Academy in Bradenton.
After the first 45 minutes ended goalless, Marriott opened the scoring with a close-range effort from a tight angle before adding a second on the rebound from Mason Bennett’s deflected shot late on.
The centre-forward enjoyed a superb debut season at Pride Park following his move from Peterborough United last summer, scoring 12 goals and registering six assists during the 2018-19 season (Transfermarkt).
As well as being pleased with Marriott’s display, some Derby fans couldn’t help but keep wondering what might have been had former boss Frank Lampard named the player in the starting XI in the Championship playoff final at Wembley.
Here is some of the Rams faithful’s reaction on the social media platform:
