The Rams forgotten man is training with the squad in Florida as Phillip Cocu assesses his players ahead of the new Championship season.
A number of Derby County fans have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions on the club’s announcement regarding Ikechi Anya joining the Rams for pre-season in Florida.
The 31-year-old Scotland international was not in the initial party of 26 players that flew out on Thursday but flew out on Sunday and trained with the squad on Monday.
Anya has become somewhat of a forgotten figure at Pride Park, having joined the club in the summer of 2016 but making just 38 appearances in three years (Transfermarkt).
The former Watford man has made only 17 starts in the league and a further 16 appearances as a substitute, and did not get a single senior game under his belt last season (Transfermarkt).
However, it appears as though new Derby manager Phillip Cocu, who took the reins on Friday, is eager to assess as many players as possible in pre-season ahead of the 2019-20 Championship campaign.
