Derby County have found out their 2019-20 Championship schedule following today’s fixture reveal and the Rams have a tricky start ahead of them.

Last season’s playoff finalists will be locking horns with relegated Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday 5 August, with that game live on television (official Derby website).

The Terriers are back in the Championship following two seasons in the Premier League, meaning the East Midlands side’s season-opener is an ex-top flight team for the second time in three years.

Derby’s first home fixture of the season at Pride Park will be against Swansea City on Saturday 10 August, but yet more tricky fixtures await them – Stoke City, Bristol City, West Bromwich Albion and Brentford also in August, and Cardiff City, Leeds United and Birmingham City in September.

Their first East Midlands derby against Nottingham Forest is at the City Ground on Saturday 9 November, with a wait until Saturday 4 April before the Reds venture across the A52 for the reverse.

During the festive period, the Rams travel to Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day and then face newly promoted Barnsley at Pride Park on New Year’s Day.
