Derby County suffered a heavy home defeat at the hands of a Samuel Saiz-inspired Leeds United.
A number of Derby fans took to Twitter to laud Samuel Saiz after the Spaniard put in another fantastic performance to help Leeds claim an emphatic 4-1 win at Pride Park on Saturday.
Heading into the game, it would have appeared that the Rams would have been slight favourites. Many are tipping Frank Lampard’s side for promotion, and it was too soon to know whether Leeds’ stunning victory over Stoke City on the opening day was a sign of things to come for the Whites under Marcelo Bielsa.
It is still too soon to make major predictions regarding the Elland Road side – especially when you consider how their start to last season petered out dramatically – but after the performance on Saturday, it certainly appears that Leeds stand a great chance of being involved in the promotion picture this term.
The Whites stormed to the three points, with Mateusz Klich, Kemar Roofe and Gjanni Alioski bagging the goals. But it was one of the trio’s teammates who was lauded by the Rams fans on Twitter.
Saiz was excellent against Stoke last week, and provided another hint that he is going to be a revelation under Bielsa as he seemed to pull the strings against Lampard’s men.
The playmaker was either dictating play heading into the final third or often proving to be the man driving forward with the ball from deep, often drawing fouls from the opposition as they desperately tried to contain him and limit his influence.
It was another fantastic performance from Saiz, and after the game, a number of Derby fans took to social media to comment on the 27-year-old’s superb display.
