Chris Sutton has responded to a Derby County fan on BBC Radio 5 Live and Twitter who does not want Leeds United to be given a guard of honour.
Leeds have clinched automatic promotion to the Premier League and have won the Championship title this season.
The Whites will take on Derby away from home at the Pride Park Stadium in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.
One Derby fan does not want the team to give Marcelo Bielsa’s side a guard of honour today, and made his opinion on Leeds clear on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Former Norwich City and Chelsea striker Sutton responded to the Rams supporter on radio, as well as on Twitter.
Derby fan Joe said on BBC Radio 5 Live, as transcribed by Leeds Live: “There’s a suggestion that we should give Leeds United a guard of honour onto the pitch. Personally, I think why do you give a guard of honour to the most dishonourable team in the entirety of football?
“Leeds aren’t an honourable team. They’re Spygate, they turn up to Pride Park and dish out abuse. Leeds aren’t an honourable club, they don’t deserve a guard of honour. They’re a disgrace.”
Sutton responded: “I think you’re just jealous, Joe. Do the right thing, come on. That’s all in the past, let’s talk about Leeds this season, they’ve been the outstanding side in the division.
“They’ve played some fantastic football, it’s no big deal for the players to give a guard of honour.”
Best team in the Championship
Leeds have been the best team in the Championship this season, and there is no doubt that the Whites have deservedly clinched automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Bielsa’s side have played the best football in the second tier of English football, and it will be interesting to see how they fare in the Premier League in 2020-21.
As for Derby, the Rams will finish the season in mid-table.
