Derby County manager Frank Lampard has spoken highly of Aston Villa star Jack Grealish to The Derby Telegraph.

Lampard, a Chelsea legend, has stated that Grealish – who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, is an outstanding footballer.

The former England international midfielder has also claimed that the 23-year-old is one of the best players in the Championship.

Lampard told The Derby Telegraph about Grealish: “He’s an outstanding player. He played very well against us at Pride Park.

“He’s matured a lot and is one of the best players in the league when he’s on form, for sure.”

Big player

Lampard made the aforementioned comments about Grealish ahead of the Championship match between Villa and Derby.

The 23-year-old has been on the sidelines since December due to a shin injury, but, according to BBC Sport, the youngster will return to action against Derby.

According to WhoScored, Grealish has made 21 appearances in the Championship for Leeds so far this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists in the process.

Villa still have a slim chance of launching a late challenge for the Championship playoffs, and the return to action of Grealish will certainly enhance their chances of doing just that.
