Derby County surely already need to earn promotion from the Championship, if they are to have any hope of keeping hold of Harry Wilson and Mason Mount beyond this season.

Wilson and Mount both only joined Derby in the summer, and the move has done the pair the world of good.

Frank Lampard has been happy to offer the young duo first-team chances, and their reputations have soared.

Mason was in the latest England squad, while Wilson scored for Wales against Ireland last night.

Chelsea and Liverpool are sure to be keeping an eye on their respective prospects, but breaking into either side’s first-team looks tough.

Although Chelsea and Liverpool are highly unlikely to want to sell the duo, if they are sent out on loan again, they will surely be relocated at a Premier League club.

And if Derby do want to retain the pair on a long-basis, they will surely need to earn promotion to the top flight.
