Crystal Palace winger Sako remains a huge fan favourite at Molineux even after two years away.
Derby County have entered the race to sign in-demand Crystal Palace winger Bakary Sako, The Telegraph reports, potentially damaging Wolves’ chances of bringing him back to Molineux.
The Malian international enjoyed three fine seasons in the Midlands, scoring at a reasonable rate in both League One and the Championship before being snapped up by Crystal Palace in the summer of 2015 after being named in the second tier Team of the Year.
Sako enjoyed a flying start to life in the Premier League, scoring the winner at Stamford Bridge in only his second appearance, but has featured in only 22 minutes of top flight action this season due to niggling injury concerns.
And BetVictor are offering odds of just 2/1 on an intriguing return to Molineux, though Derby’s reported interest means Wolves may be blown out of the water.

After all, while Wolves are attempting to drag themselves out of the relegation mire, The Rams have exploded up the table under Steve McClaren and look a good bet at making the play-offs once again this season.
Understandably, Wolves fans would jump at the chance to welcome back a player whose explosive pace and rocket shots propelled the club back into the second tier after their calamitous relegation into League One but, logically speaking, do they need another goalscoring wideman?
Portuguese duo Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro (below) maintained their electric recent form in the 3-2 win against Bristol City on Boxing Day, netting a goal apiece to ensure Paul Lambert’s side celebrated successive wins for the first time since August.

As it stands, the forward pairing have scored six of the club’s last 12 goals after an inconsistent start to life in the English game.
Therefore, Costa and Cavaleiro will surely benefit from an extended run in the starting XI and the addition of Sako would only serve to undermine their growing understanding of Championship football. And then there’s Jed Wallace, James Henry, Michal Zyro, Ola John and Jordan Graham, all capable of playing in the wide areas.
It cannot be argued that Wolves need to spend in January but Sako’s return would only reinforce the strongest area of the squad.
