12 months after letting Chris Martin leave for Fulham, will history repeat itself as Huddersfield Town target Derby County’s Tom Ince?

Chris Martin netted 10 goals at Fulham
You’d think that Derby County would have learned their lessons by now. After loaning out Chris Martin, the club’s top scorer for each of the last three seasons, to Fulham on transfer deadline day, The Rams spent the whole of January attempting to get him back.
In the end, the lack of a reliable goalscorer was a major factor in Derby failing to put together a realistic challenge for the play-off places.
Therefore, why they would consider letting the one player in their squad more essential than Martin leave in an almost identical deal is a question every supporter will be demanding the answer to.
Derby’s Tom Ince
The Sun claim that newly promoted Huddersfield Town are hoping to boost their Premier League preparations by nabbing Tom Ince on a season-long loan deal. It’s reported that they will pay a loan fee, as well as the majority of his £30,000-a-week wages, and will have the option to make the deal permanent if they survive in the top flight.
Ince netted 14 Championship goals, as well as producing another five assists, in a fine season in Derby colours. In fact, it was his performances that went some way to compensate for the club’s baffling decision to let Martin leave for a direct rival.

No wonder, then, that supporters are greeting this rumour with disbelief.
