Ikechi Anya and Abdoul Camara appear unlikely to play a major role under Gary Rowett at Derby County – but QPR-linked Fred Onyedinma could be an upgrade.

Queens Park Rangers could be set to pull off quite the coup in the summer. According to the Football League Paper, the Londoners are leading the chase for Millwall forward Fred Onyedinma despite Premier League interest in the shape of Hull City and Watford.
The sprightly winger caught the eye as the League One outfit knocked Watford out of the FA Cup in January but it appears that QPR boss Ian Holloway could be the deciding factor in a potential deal.
After all, the manager gave Onyedinma his debut at Millwall in 2014 and knows all about the 20-year-old’s talent.
The surprise, however, is that there appears to be a shortage of other Championship clubs throwing their hat into the ring for a promising winger capable of bursting past unsuspecting opponents in the blinking of an eye.
Onyedinma may have scored just three league goals all season but, with his contract expiring in the summer, the youngster would represent a distinctly low-risk transfer. Especially for a club like Derby County, desperate as they are to enhance their attacking options.

With the exception of the talismanic Tom Ince, The Rams’ wide players have flattered to deceive this season. And with new manager Gary Rowett at the helm, it’s likely that there will be changes afoot at Pride Park in the summer.
Johnny Russell’s improved performances since Rowett’s arrival may have earned him a second chance. But the fact the Ikechi Anya and Abdoul Camara (below) have just four assists between them all season, and are both yet to start a game under the former Birmingham boss, means they will surely be facing an uncertain future.

And Onyedinma could be a ready-made replacement. He’s a raw talent but, as Rowett has proved throughout his relatively short managerial career, he has the tools to polish a rough diamond.
