Sheffield Wednesday may be open to selling Jordan Rhodes and he could be ideal for Derby County.

According to the Derby Telegraph, Sheffield Wednesday may have opened the door for Jordan Rhodes to move on this summer – and Derby County should consider moving for the Scotland international.

Rhodes has endured a miserable time at Wednesday, since moving to Hillsborough last January.

However, he has previously been a major weapon at Championship level and he could be ideal for a Gary Rowett side.

Rhodes has a natural predatory instinct, and he also has an ability to link play up well.

Although the Rams already have Chris Martin up-front, Rhodes would be an upgrade on the 28-year-old target-man and would help bolster Rowett’s attacking options.

Derby already have a squad which is among the favourites to be promoted, but after losing Tom Ince and Will Hughes they arguably need an injection of star quality.

And if Derby could get Rhodes back to his best, then the former Huddersfield and Blackburn man would surely offer them that.

Rhodes is already in-demand, with rumours that he could leave Wednesday becoming louder by the day, and Derby should move quickly to secure a deal which would surely boost their promotion chances considerably.
