Derby County midfielder George Thorne has confirmed that he will back in time for pre-season.

Thorne has not played at all this campaign, after being ruled out with injury.

The central midfielder broke his leg in the last game of the 2015/16 season against Ipswich Town, and has not featured since.

But the former West Bromwich Albion man is hopeful that his comeback is not too far off.

Thorne has the potential to be one of the best players in the Championship when fit.

However, Thorne’s progress at Derby has been blocked due to his persistent injury problems.

Thorne suffered with knee and calf injuries, before breaking his leg.

If Thorne is back in time for pre-season it will be a major boost for Gary Rowett, as he attempts to help Derby earn promotion next term.
